Looks about right, there were some cutting wounds on the Dragontoad's body. I already had a certain suspicion.
And once more I am absolutely struck by the sheer danger Aurele and Danathar possess. With how severely he was wounded and how easily she patched him back together next to how he seemingly took quick care of the Dragontoad where the others as a group had failed. Yes, Anadel took care of the last one easily as well, but we need to keep in mind that magic is frigging dangerous and so far, apart from his magic breaking flame, Danathar just used his weapons at any time. This speaks highly of the skills given in certain regards, and after the last encounter with the assassin which gave way towards his overconfidence I am kind of sure, that only makes him more focused.
You're correct in every point. Both Aurele and Danathar have centuries of experience. Magic or blade - with that much time you can master anything, if you're dedicated that is. And it's not a spoiler to say so, since we already saw a flashback of them five centuries ago together ^^
I still didn't show every trick they both have. But for now there is no such need
How, even? I mean, they (Aurele's Group) were a bit busy themselves and Danathar was heavily wounded, I expected him to be not at his top form and speed for at least a few hours... Still, he found Dervik quicker than the rest of Dervik's group.
Unless he already had an eye on Dervik's group before Derbik got eaten.
Don't forget that Aurele healed him before parting ways. Events with these groups happen simultaneously time-wise, and while group 2 was dealing with Senya and then looking for Danathar, group one was at the desolation area, watching the Army destroyer from hiding.
After Aurele sent her signal to continue, group 1 covered a significant way forward until the encounter with the Dragonrtoads. That amount of time was enough for Danathar to approach them and, if not watch the fight happen (Your assumption), at least spot the fleeing Dragontoad, figuring that it swallowed someone. Both version could work here, and one of them Dan will present to Dervik in the next page. To believe him or not is up to you though
