Yeah, you wouldn't expect someone to just hold their breath inside a pool of acid for 10 minutes straight (Unless they have Skin-breathing Gift of nature that is). The potion didn't outright reanimate him, rather it works like defibrillator. Would more time pass that might no longer be enough

(Off-Topic: Do you happen to know the movie "The Abyss"? Maybe too long ago, more than 30 years. From that movie I learned that it might be possible to revive someone who drowned 15 minutes ago. But not longer.)

Was it about some deep ocean base? If so I watched it in the distant past and wanted to rewatch recently but something distracted me. I really need to do that, now that you mentioned this ^^

If possible, try to watch the Director's cut, about 2 hours. The ending makes a lot more sense.
