Could it be the fact that her incredibly longer lifespan makes relationships with short-living (to her) mortals incredibly painful to her ass she watches them age, waste away, and die?

In Monstroniverse setting there are ways to extends one's life for non elves. Gifts of nature, blood infusion and other magic-related methods can grant a human infinite life too. And Dervik is a mage himself, so he's half-way there already
