Seems like there are many reasons not to trust Senya. And, to be fair, Senya has reasons to not trust OUR merry little band.
My theory is that Aurele and Danathar have a pretty good understanding/relationship with Fluffy, which would allow them to exceed "The Rule of Ten" in his/her territory.
Is "ten" the magic number, or is it like the operating instructions for the "Holy Hand Grenade"? I would assume that 9 members would be OK, but nothing is mentioned about 11 members. Or is ten the cut-off, and any other group with ten or more members is exterminated?
Also, there's a significant army being assembled and on the march. There are FAR more than ten members in that army. Will Fluffy destroy THEM, or is his/her determining factor reserved for non-natives of Kfir (ie: native groups can amass in any number, but visitors/invaders must be in groups fewer than ten)?
Also, there have been groups of beings higher than ten that our band has fought off (the worms, the beetles, the flying reptiles). Those animals (with the exception of the Queen/Gladiator beetles) were not sentient or sapient (ie: thinking) beings; so it makes me wonder if another limitation is the number of "higher" beings (humans, elves, trolls, goblins, etc)...
Love the thought process here. The question about the reason why our little group has not been touched yet will be revealed next week. And while we wait for next Friday, you could try and guess why that is ^^ If you want
As for the issue of large numbers of skrogs or other creatures, I can answer right now - animals, monsters, insectoids, fish, plants - none of those count. Only humanoids. If anything else did, Kifir would no longer exist
Hmm, "close proximity" - Rasmiel? Most of the time she was flying above the group. Was. Maybe fairies don't count?
Not counting Aurele would be a stretch.
And... something else doesn't add up...
Somehow I keep forgetting the names, but:
The men:
Naros, Danathar, Dervik, Grizlak, Jeb and his buddy = 6
The women:
Aurele, Nara, Anadel, Rasmiel and the wood elf = 5
So they were 11 when they started - how didn't they alert Fluffy? Plus Senya now.
But also, whether it's a rule of 10 or 11 - if they find Ellie, they would have been 12 even without Senya. Now 13.
Actually, when Fluffy's attack-trigger(?) is so predictable, I have an idea: Gather several groups of soldiers and wizards at some different point just outside of Kifir, 10 each, and have all of them except one group meet at some point in Kifir. Now the wizards need to set up a magical protection for the collection of groups, this is time critical. When Fluffy attacks, the leftover group sneaks behind him/it and blows Fluffy up with a magic bomb.
And then they can start to re-conquer Kifir with big armies.

I love this world you have created.

I don't get it.
