Didn't notice it before but with one blade suited more for stabbing over slashing (looks sort of like a Gladius) and the other more for slashing, she's developed a style that uses both at once.
They can still be used for either but each has its' strong point
Good work !!!
Could be a Celtic anthropomorphic or antennae sword or a Bronze Age British 'leaf blade' too, or a Biblical area Hebrew sword or any of the others using that general shape, pretty much every culture had a similiar shaped sword at one time or another.
The one in her right hand is a little more generic, almost a falchion but smaller, sort of like a heavy machete being broader at the forward section then tapering to the tip, again a very common shape for slashing weapons but still able to get the point across ;)
Can't get rid of the feeling I've seen that exact shape before but I forget where.
It's the whole "form follows function" thing. The really "weird" designs seem to originate in equatorial Africa, India, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Then again, those areas aren't known for wearing armour (plate, scale, or chain), so they don't NEED to be a certain shape, IMHO.
Always had an interest in arms and armour from stone age to modern day, so much I made it a full time job for a great many years ;)
A stone axe will kill you just as dead as a thermobaric weapon, just not as many as quickly.
From the first fist onward, it's all about increasing efficiency and all the different shaped blades and other weapons were suited for something specific and were seen to be the best available at the time for it, hence the huge variety.
Really good work on her facial expressions these past few pages, especially the fifth panel on this one.
You can tell she's enjoying this, either proving what she can do, getting a little payback, or both...presumably both.
Ah cool ^^ History was never my favorite subject in school and I barely touched it after it. I know only the basics, really, so if I'd have questions - I'll be asking you ;)
I know stuff :) just not usually the stuff anyone wants to hear...
and never the stuff you want to know, I can give you some good links to sites dealing with edged or other pre-gunpowder weapons.
Some have a lot of images for reference, like https://myarmoury.com/features.html
You might get a 'warning' on that one but it looks like they didn't change their clock so it doesn't match with the computer's internal one and firefox panics :)
Horm-swarmed, hopefully she got age-lock out of it at least...
Odd thing I just realized, well odd to me anyway, there's only Jeb's spear I see and other than magic just Grizlak's throwing axes and daggers for ranged weapons.
I'd think halberds or other polearms would be a primary weapon for most fighter types with swords axes or hammers for backup and Rasmiel could be pretty dangerous with a bow from above.
Of course with the magics available they might be depending on that for range but eventually they're going to find a magic-proof monster...they won't want to get too close to ;)

Getting too cocky might end up with her feeling cocky too ;)
