Why do I get the feeling that she is luring Fluffy into a trap? Is she going to use the entire company as pawns (except for her pet Dark Elf) to aid her in taking out Fluffy by herself for some nefarious reason?
Aurele has her own plan, and I don't think she considers the well-being of the group as needed.
But a trap... how? They are moving. Thus I'm sure it's not a certain place. And only Aurele and Danathar know the plan and so far Dan hasn't done any magic. Also, using death magic against Fluffy, if it was that easy, I'm sure it would have done before, successfully.
Since Fluffy was plan B, I don't think he's the target, just the tool. I guess she wants to get the group (or some specific members of it) to a certain place. First she planned to use the natives to get them there, after they were killed, she plans to use Fluffy for it.
Maybe Senya joining made Aurele speed things up, I guess she planned doing the part that involved Fluffy on the way back.
(Coldly considered: She made sure that they were 11 when they started, herself included, so with her cancelling out one other person, this would be a safe number, even with Ellie(?) after they found her, thus no one could accuse her of planning foul play from begin on. Now with Senya and Fluffy already nearby, she can set her plan into motion without finding Ellie - much safer for herself.)
If your (Pej's) idea is correct, then the specific member could only be Dan or Naros, they were the only ones she knew to go on the quest. Dan knows the plan. Naros... probably not. So it would be most likely Naros. So far, he has also not shown magic and while he can take care of himself to some extend, he is old and some levels below Aurele and Danathar. But there is his staff, maybe it has some hidden power. It could be possible, idk.
@...RockB I can't tell you the reason for this plan taking action, but I want to add a little detail for you to consider. During the meeting at Naros' estate Aurele mentioned that she would accept anyone who joins the team. What I mean is - the initial number of people in the team is not really important to her. it could be more and could be less than what they have
@Darksh1ne - hmm, with 2 more members in the group she would not have been able to control triggering Fluffy... that throws my theory (that she carefully planned involving Fluffy) out the window. Hmmm.
@Pej - you're right, I forgot Dervik, he was already there, too.
@...RockB Why, of course she would! Fluffy triggers if there are more than 10 people in one place, not exactly at or around 10.
You can come to that conclusion after Naros' story about Tamir's army being destroyed the same way in the distant past.
She wouldn't be able to rely on that plan in the group consisted of less than 10 people, or if it consisted of more but someone died along the way. But then she'd simply have to come up with a different plan to achieve the same goal. Which i can't uncover yet :)
I think she needs powerfull death mage...Dervik was her plan A, but she wanted to test both him (against Skrog gladiator) and Anadel (multiple times) to see, if they are powerfull enough to be plan A and B
>> Fluffy triggers if there are more than 10 people in one place, not exactly at or around 10.
I got that, but if they were more than 11, Fluffy would be triggered as soon as they entered Kifir, Aurele could not have a say about "when". And with less than 10 (her included), Fluffy would never be triggered. THAT is what I meant by Aurele couldn't control the triggering (the "when"), unless she could make herself red and counting double.
But that contradicts "Fluffy triggers if there are more than 10 people in one place, not exactly at or around 10." Unless it's not Kifir...
Whatever is going on about fluffy, I don't get it, not right now. You said it wouldn't be very far in the future, can I assume that you mean within the rest of this year? If so, I rather stop trying to solve a puzzle where either too many pieces are (yet) missing, or are maybe hidden or disguised or I just don't see them. :-)
@...RockB Well... Can't say that you'll learn all the truth in close future, as before the first big reveal there will be several pretty intense action scenes. And I can't really say anything about the timing, as my plans rarely match with my possibilities. Time has proven that over and over.
But I really love yours and others' speculations! Those are my favorite type of comments I find under the pages.

I really have no idea what Aurele is up to.
