Headerman and Reind33rViking!
Good question!
Maybe only until Aurele's hiding stones deactivated. With some luck, that happens before Fluffy's attack.
Or until Fluffy is convinced that they are all dead.
It's not like pointy sticks grow on trees y'know !!!
Lash a spare throwing dagger to the end and it's a passable copy.
The spear is probably one of the oldest and most effective of weapons, a decent spearman will almost always win over a swordsman and virtually every pre-gunpowder army (and a lot of post-powder ones) saw the majority of the foot soldiers and even cavalry using spears or some other polearm simply because they work !!
and of course we couldn't let you go without this one...

It's not the size of the wand but the way you waggle it around ;)
The nice thing about spears, especially when used two-handed, is that you can alter the length radically with a simple motion, going from full length to less than half almost instantly, useful when your opponent thinks all they have to do is close in to try and get 'inside' the spear length and ends up with a nasty surprise instead.
How long do they have to hold it ?
Until Fluffy forgets how to count ?

You know you've really been so blind
Now's your time, burn your mind
You're falling far, too far behind...
I also find the song very fitting here ^^
